Chartwells Medical Diet Letter
10th September 2020
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Chartwells Medical Diet Request
Chartwells, the company that provides our school dinner service, has told us that without written medical proof from a GP, or other medical professional, that they will not be recognising children’s allergies. I have pointed out that in light of the additional work this will cause for parents and local GP’s a parent’s word regarding allergies would be far easier. It has been made clear to me that Chartwells will not accept this.
For our care plans we will of course continue to take your word but in this area the company has been very specific that it requires its own paper work and medical proof.
If you can let us know, by filling in the slip below, if your child has any food allergies we should be aware of. We will then send you their paper work.
For those parents whose children do have food allergies, but don’t yet have medical proof, I would strongly suggest sending them with a packed lunch.
Please complete the reply slip below and return to school by Monday 14th September 2020.
Yours sincerely
Richard Lane
